Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority ,Inc Turns 100 Years old

As we move closer to Black History month we are taking the time to congratulate the First African American Sorority for turning 100 years old today.

There are a few women in Atlanta,Ga that we would like to pay homage to that are making tremendous strides in entertainment and in business today. We just wanted to list a few that some of you may know out there in blogger –land:

Founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC in 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-trained women. To trace its history is to tell a story of changing patterns of human relations in America in the 20th century.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that AKA has inducted more than 200,000 women throughout the last 100 years. Mattel is planning to release a Barbie doll commemorating AKA’s centennial birthday.
