Details about the project
The R&B celebrity Mariah Carey will star in Tennessee, in which she plays a waitress who sets off with two brothers to find their estranged father, in order to help them in saving their younger brother, who has leukemia. The drama is to be directed by Aaron Woodley (Rhinoceros Eyes) from a script by Russell Schaumberg. The film will be produced by Lee Daniels (Monster’s Ball) and shoots in New Mexico and Tennessee this spring, reports Variety. Apparently, Daniels got the idea to cast her after watching Mariah Carey’s Grammy-winning album “The Emancipation of Mimi” become the biggest selling disc of 2005.

The star was acquitted of tax fraud and filing a false claim, as well as three misdemeanour counts of wilful failure to file a tax return, but he still faces three years in prison. And Snipes' legal team hopes glowing character references from his famous friends will help keep the actor out of jail. In his letter, obtained by TMZ.com, Oscar winner Washington calls Snipes "a mighty oak". And TV judge Greg Mathis writes, "Unfortunately, it was his honest nature that forced him into these legalities." His TV colleague Judge Joe Brown adds Snipes is "one of those rare individuals possessed of an extremely developed social conscience."

Former CHOPPER CITY BOYZ rapper VL MIKE has been shot dead in New Orleans, Louisiana. The 32-year-old star - real name Michael Allen - was gunned down as he got out of his car on Sunday (Apr08). He was rushed to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police report that the gunman escaped on foot, but have yet to confirm a suspect or motive for the killing. Look who finally decided to show up last night at R&B Live Atlanta. Mario, the D-list R&B sensation came 2 ½ hours later then expected. No hatred intended to the PR Firm (Garner Circle Pr) that invited us out to the event –[their only doing what they are told] ; but the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ guy to damn late.
Half the media left way before the Mario actually decided to show up. Lets be for real , Mario is you not that HOT to come that late to a performance.
Some of the celebrities that decided to show love to the organizers of this event, COMPOUND ENTERTAINMENT; MUTE ; J ERVING GROUP were JoJo, Compound Entertainment new artist Angelica,Jody Breeze, Bone Crusher, Young Stef [ do you remember him?] Ike Dirty and many more.
Overall the event was less then stellar but it was a good night for some good R&B music. If they have another one of these events I would like to see a bigger roster of artist just dropping by to show love and getting on the stage in a real impromptu way because this needs some work.
