Alicia Keys is on the verge of leaving longtime record label J Records. J Records is home to the man credited as discovering Keys, Clive Davis. According to reports, Keys is looking to sidestep the label and release her music
through her own label, KrucialKeys.KrucialKeys distributes music directly to the public via the internet. Keys claims that distributing over the internet is "the wave of the future." Alicia Keys would not be the first artist to leave J Records. Last year, superstar rapper Busta Rhymes left the label. When Busta was asked why he left J Records, he summed up his feelings for the label saying, "J Records is trash."
