DJ Toomp will be honored by Governor and Mrs. Sonny Perdue along with other Georgia Grammy nominees and winners on Wednesday, March 19th at a private celebration at The Governor's Mansion in Buckhead. Other invited guests include Keyshia Cole, Akon, Ne-Yo, T-Pain, Usher, Angie Stone, OutKast, Gnarls Barkley and India.Arie, to name a few. "It's a great honor to be noticed by the Governor for all of the hard work we as artists and musicians put in everyday," says DJ Toomp.

Lil Wayne entered a not-guilty plea Monday morning in a New York courtroom. The rapper was being arraigned on gun charges stemming from an arrest in July following his first major headlining gig in the city at the Beacon Theater. According to MTV News, his lawyer, Stacey Richman, said Wayne was arraigned on two felony charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. Following the show at the Beacon, police searched Wayne's tour bus and arrested the rapper for criminal possession of a .40-caliber pistol.

Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx is to take on the role of legendary boxer Mike Tyson in a forthcoming film about his life. The retired sportsman is planning a Hollywood blockbuster biopic about his controversial career which he will produce - and he has already signed up Foxx to play the lead role.

Last night I attended the Q. Parker Experience at Sugar Hill. It featured the lovely Dawn Robinson of En vogue, the amazing Meshun Nightwriter, the moving Kolour Bind, and the energetic Tony Towerz. And then the crowd was serenaded by Q of 112. It was a fantastic show. Unfortunately the camera died before we could get any pictures of Q’s performance, sadness! But let me tell you, he shut it down!! I have never seen him perform so I will be honest and say I was pleasantly surprised that he could sing as well as he did. He kept the crowd going and he gave out roses to all the ladies in the front row! He even gave my homegirl a bottle of Veuve Clicquot! But it was very lovely when he had his wife come on stage to be presented with a bouquet of roses.
I spoke to Meshun and Kolour Blind, who are all very nice gentlemen. Kolour Blind are “just some Christian Country boys from Nashville”. They are signed to Floyd Mayweather’s new label. The put it down doing their rendition of “Sorry”. Check out their Meshun was extremely nice and he is an incredibly talented Atlanta artist so I know we will be hearing more from him. Finally a Bob Marley Documentary directed by Martin Scorsese has finally arrived !
Remember the director that directed GoodFellas, Casino and the Best Picture in 2007 THE DEPARTED…. That’s the guy that is going to direct the documentary. I’m Telling you this is going to be out to see and I would not be surprised if it didn’t receive Oscar talks in 2010
Scorsese is widely recognized for his work on Oscar-nominated films including Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Casino, The Aviator and 2007 Best Picture Winner The Departed. The documentary, having already received permission from the Marley family, will also have direct input and support from Marley’s son, Ziggy. He will take on the role as one of the executive producers of the project.
“I am thrilled that the Marley family will finally have the opportunity to document our father’s legacy and are truly honored to have Mr. Scorsese guide the journey,” Ziggy said.

Cinemartini has become apart of Atlanta’s young black professional entertainment scene. Teaming up with some of the most influential young power players from Disturbing the Peace (DTP), BMI, Starfire Group was a great mix to the night’s festivities.
