:::D12 Rapper "PROOF" Slained at a night club in Michigan:::

:::D12 Rapper "PROOF" Slained at a night club in Michigan:::
His Web site was updated Tuesday with the words “RIP Proof,” a tribute to the 32-year-old rapper who was gunned down yesterday morning at a nightclub along Eight Mile, the road made famous by the 2002 movie that starred his mentor and close friend, Eminem.
Members of Proof’s family gathered at his home on Detroit's northwest side upon hearing word of his death, reports AP. Vehicles lined the residential street in front of his two-story house as people hugged each other on the sidewalk.
"Memorial service arrangements are still being made, and his friends and family would appreciate privacy during this difficult time," read a statement from Dennis Dennehy, the publicist for D12's label, Interscope Records.
According to Detroit police spokesman James Tate, an argument at the C.C.C. nightclub escalated into gunfire inside the bar around 4:30 a.m. By the time police showed up, shooting victims Proof and a 35-year-old man were both taken from the bar in private vehicles. Proof was dead on arrival at St. John Conner Creek, an outpatient treatment facility. The other victim was listed in critical condition at St. John Health System.
Detectives and evidence technicians were still inside the bar Tuesday morning, as police marked shell casings in a parking lot across the street. Authorities are searching for the gunman and ask that anyone with any information on the shooting come forward.
The bar, which was operating outside of its licensed hours when the incident occurred, is a hot spot for criminal activity on the city’s east side, according to patrol cops. Tate said police have taken 18 incident reports there since 1996. The latest was a vice raid in December in which six tickets were issued, most involving minors possessing or drinking alcohol.
Proof, born Deshaun Holton, was the best man at Eminem's wedding in January, and they have been close friends since before Eminem became famous. In an eerie bout of irony, Em’s video for “Like Toy Soldiers” shows the rapper pacing the hospital halls as doctors try to revive Proof – who had just been shot. Later in the clip, Em is shown at Proof’s funeral, as he raps about the escalation of violence among hip hop artists.

::::“Akeelah and the Bee, STARTS APRIL 28th::::

Akeelah and the Bee, NEW MOVIE
FROM LIONS GATE, SET FOR MARKETING CAMPAIGN WITH
CO-SPONSOR STARBUCKS

The upcoming film “Akeelah and the Bee,” starring Keke Palmer (Akeelah) as an inner-city kid who competes at the national spelling bee, will get a fresh cup of aggressive marketing from your local Starbucks employees beginning today.

The retail coffee chain is named as a co-presenter of "Akeelah" in the film’s opening credits along with Lionsgate and producer 2929 Entertainment, but is in fact a promotional partner in the film’s launch. Starbucks appears to be the first retail or brand promotional partner to get a cut of a movie's profits, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Under the deal, Starbucks’ estimated 30 million customers will encounter promotional in-store signage, cup sleeves, coasters, flash cards, magnets, and on lanyards worn by Starbucks' staff of baristas. The ads will contain more than 25 words featured in the film’s spelling bees, such as pulchritude and prestidigitation.

In addition, Starbucks customers can expect their baristas to try and slip “Akeelah and the Bee” talk into friendly conversation as you wait on your Mocha Frappuccino. The employees were either invited to advance screenings or were sent the trailer on DVD, and are expected to spark dialogue about the film with customers, said Starbucks Entertainment president Ken Lombard.

Through its T-Mobile HotSpot network, the Starbucks campaign for "Akeelah" also will offer customers access to the movie trailer, a clip from the film, links to the "Akeelah" Web site (http://www.akeelahandthebee.com) and links to music from the movie on the Starbucks Hear Music homepage. It will sell travel-size Scrabble as part of the promotion, and the DVD will be released in Starbucks locations simultaneously with its national release at traditional retail.

"We can provide the studios with a very unique opportunity to reach moviegoers in a way they currently don't have and frankly is going to help with better box office performance for their films," Lombard said.

“Akeelah” also stars Angela Bassett as Akeelah’s mother and Laurence Fishburne as her tutor. The film arrives in theaters on April 28.

:::IS ALICIA KEYS IS LEAVING J RECORDS ??:::

:::IS JRECORDS A CRAP LABEL OR IS ALICIA KEYS UNHAPPY WITH J RECORDS?:::

Alicia Keys is on the verge of leaving longtime record label J Records. J Records is home to the man credited as discovering Keys, Clive Davis. According to reports, Keys is looking to sidestep the label and release her music through her own label, KrucialKeys.

KrucialKeys distributes music directly to the public via the internet. Keys claims that distributing over the internet is "the wave of the future." Alicia Keys would not be the first artist to leave J Records. Last year, superstar rapper Busta Rhymes left the label. When Busta was asked why he left J Records, he summed up his feelings for the label saying, "J Records is trash."

:::Marion "Suge" Knight has file for protection under federal bankruptcy :::

Marion
"Suge" Knight has come forward to speak about his recent decision to file for protection under federal bankruptcy laws. Knight's new counsel, Larry Nagelberg and Laurence Strick, said Knight and Death Row Records sought protection because of a $107 million dollar default judgment awarded to Lydia Harris, ex-wife of imprisoned drug boss Michael "Harry-O" Harris.

"For the last few years there's been a stigma attached to Death Row," Knight told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "People like the Harris' have been coming out of the woodwork and it's been like a dark cloud hanging over me. I've decided that I'm serving Death Row its last meal. I'm setting a new table." Knight didn't reveal what future plans he had for the label or its lucrative catalog.

There’s talk about the days of break dancing and graffiti are said to long gone. Not to mention, fat-laced adidas, card board stages and B-Boy standing around in their B*Boy stance. Break dancing has become the past-time of the progressive hip-hop movement.

While pop lockin to the bass beats of the early Run DMC, and Grandmaster Flash & Furious Five, the dances remain the same but the players have changed.

The BGirlz want to present strong, smart, independent B-Girlz and other Hip Hop females as role models for upcoming generations to show everyone that there is a significant place for women in this worldwide culture. In addition, BGirlz want to preserve the history of women in Hip Hop by encouraging everyone to collect and archive materials from back in the days and to document the scene as it exists now. Not to be confused with B-Boys, BGirlz are no slacker when it comes to holding their own in the dance cipher across the world. The BGirlz have created a world wide Phenomenon and you can witness it yourself by visiting the website and understanding the movement.

Be sure to take a look at what has continued the fundamental nature of prolonging the hip hop generation. BGirlz are here to stay!

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson movie

Get Rich or Die Tryin’ set to release

:::50 Cent finds a way to top the charts again:::

By: PJ Jackson Jr.

With the support by many, the movie, GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN hit stores this past week topping the charts for Curtis “50 cent” Jackson one more time. With no stranger to the chart topping hits Jackson’s gave the audience a chance to see his acting ability from start to finish.

Jackson along with a start studded cast was no slouch along side Oscar nominee, Terrence Howard and many more legends of the film industry.

Jackson actually showed may dynamics I his acting style. He told the tale of his story in a very plausible manner. From start to finish, the story line would continue on a consistent plain. This film was not difficult to follow. There were a few unrealistic things displayed in the movie but you can say to yourself, what movie doesn’t have a bit of fictions nature embedded into it?

Some say that the movie included soulless characters in monotones. This movie was not to be considered as a blockbuster but looking at the quality of the film it was a far reach to even be close to a block buster.

The average movie watcher can take this movie for what it is; a mediocre depiction of the drug rises and falls in the urban community.

On a lighter note one has to look closely, Jackson is no actor, he is a rapper. This attempt to capture a character that he also lived as was probably better then some of the actors we see on these second-rate evening programming

Average (2 stars)

Rated R for full frontal male nudity, topless female nudity, gratuitous violence, pervasive profanity, incessant ethnic slurs, graphic sexuality, and the promotion of drug use.

Running time: 134 minutes

Studio Paramount home Entertainment

DVD Extras: Theatrical trailer, “The Making of” featurette, and another entitled “A Portrait of an Artist.”

KHAO:

:::::The Grand Hustle Beat Maker

set to take the stage :::::

By: PJ Jackson Jr.

He makes your body move and the car thump; he keeps it gritty and keeps it smooth; the Grand Hustle Beat maker, KHAO, is no foreigner to the platinum acclaimed production credits of today’s hottest rappers.

KHAO is the new sound of the south, breaking the mold of the ole to familiar traditional bass beat patterns and unconventional string instruments. He has more to offer the industry as the newcomer for the south.

With production credits ranging from Ruben Studdard to Paul Wall, KHAO is best known for his production credits with the KING himself ,T.I. KHAO joined the Grand Hustle team more than five years ago producing beats under the Grand Hustle /Intaprize imprint. There is no question that KHAO is no phony to the southern movement; raised in the cusp of the south Montgomery, Alabama, KHAO had plenty of time to capture the sound of the new south.

Now with a album set to release in 2006,KHAO will now share with the world his music and vision he brought to you on Young Jeezy’s “Last of a Dying Breed”, T.I.’s album Urban Legend-Limelight and T.I’s album KING-Undertaker and Lil Kim’s NAKED TRUTH –I know you see me ; just to name a few.

This album release has been highly anticipated by the streets because of his association with the industries best rappers. KHAO, a mild mannered guy , has popped on the scene and has projects lined up with Trick Daddy, Governor, Ruben Studdard, Young Dro and Big Kuntry King just to round off the star studded cast

:::RUSSELL SIMMONS BACKTRACKS ON SEPARATION:::

Not appearing at all like a couple who just announced their separation, Russell Simmons, his wife Kimora Lee and their daughters Ming Lee, 6, and Aoki, 3, “woke up in the same bed” Monday, Russell revealed to the New York Daily News.

Three days earlier, the Def Jam founder had released a statement announcing the end of his seven-year marriage to the former model. On Tuesday, however, Simmons told the Daily News that he and his family woke up together at their Saddle River, N.J., mansion, and said there’s still "a possibility" they can save their marriage.

"On the day we made our announcement, I picked up my children from school and took them to see 'Ice Age 2: The Meltdown' with Kimora," Simmons told the newspaper.

Simmons said he was also upset over press reports of their split "that made it look like we were unfaithful to each other. That's not true. We know each other very well."

Simmons said he told Kimora about his relationship with 23-year-old Dominican video vixen Denise Vasi, and added that the separation boils down to this: "I work with her 14 hours a day. The question is, do we want to be together 24 hours a day? We're making a space and taking some time, but we're best friends. We're still going to have our media interests and our fashion interests. I am producing her reality show, and we're raising our children together. From what the public sees, there's absolutely no change."

Simmons said their separation drama will be featured on her VH1 reality series, "The Kimora Lee Simmons Show," and laughed: "I'm sure the producers want to get it on the show sooner rather than later."

:::JANET SET TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE IN MAY:::

::::JANET JACKSON
IS BACK FOR ANOTHER ALBUM::::

After several years away from the spotlight (minus the naked butt bongo video leaked on the Internet late last year), Janet Jackson will return to the spotlight next month with the first single from her as-yet-untitled album.

According to Virgin Urban president Jermaine Dupri, also her boyfriend, the single is expected to arrive at U.S. radio in May, and the album will likely follow at the end of September.

Jackson’s new CD will be the first since 2004’s “Damita Jo,” which dropped in the midst of the fallout (pun intended) surrounding her Super Bowl halftime show. Her longtime production team Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have contributed tracks to the new set as well.

"It's a milestone year for us and for the collaboration," Jam previously told Billboard.com. "It'll be 20 years since the release of (Jackson's 1986 album) 'Control,' so there's definitely a little bit of a nod to that on the new album."

Dupri also contributed tracks to the project, but tells Billboard that he won’t be a featured guest on any of the songs.

"But I don't know if Jermaine Dupri the artist exists anymore. I'm not into that right now. It's far on the back burner,” says J.D., who will also oversee the 2006 Virgin Urban releases of albums from Beenie Man, Sleepy Brown, Johnta Austin, Young Capone and Daz Dillinger. “It's probably in the cards somewhere down the road. But it's the last thing I'm thinking about right now.”
